Fall comfort foods: meatloaf casserole

During the fall season, we all have food that we see as comfort foods. Comfort foods a lot of the time help us with our mood, “comfort foods lead to significant improvements in mood, but no more than other foods or no food.” While the mood boost is temporary, we all need a mood boost every once in a while. For this fall comfort food, the chosen main dish is a Meatloaf casserole.

First, start with a 9 by 7 casserole dish, and spray with cooking spray. Preheat the oven to  400 degrees. The next step is to cook all of the meat thoroughly. While you wait for the meat to cook all the way through you can fill the bottom of the casserole dish with a mixture of cream of mushroom, and however much cheese you want to tater tots. This next part is optional, but the people that have enjoyed it. Take a can of green beans, drain out the juice, and spread the can throughout the tater tots. As the meat is finishing the next step is to make the special sauce.

Take a medium-sized bowl and mix a small amount of everything. Brown sugar, mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce. Add a small amount of all of it, and add more to get the desired consistency/flavor you want. Mix about half of it within the hamburger and stir until completely combined. Place the meat on top of the green beans and bake for 30-45 minutes, or until the food is cooked through.
