Canadian Wildfires

Canadian Wildfires

Canada has had trouble recently with the big wildfires, and it is important to talk about so stuff like this doesn’t go unnoticed. The fires began in March 2023, and the intensity increased in June. Making not only lots of smoke in the air but making the air really bad to breathe, making a  big problem because there are many people with health problems and that could make them very ill. Health wasn’t the only big problem, planes didn’t get to take off because it was hard to see. Said, The Globe and Mail; on top of that many people lost their homes.

According to ABC News, the 2023 wildfire season had seen the most area burned in Canada’s history. CTV News says, 430 forest fires across the country burned out of control. Fires in Canada have been very out of control so needing help from other places around the world has been needed. Canada has gotten help controlling the fires from Chile and Costa Rica also says CTV News.

I did an interview with Ms.Kriegl a science teacher at CCA. “Some wildfires are natural, some are proactive and people can be very careless and leave their fires running and they can get out of control making fires start,” she stated. Kriege offers some advice on how to prevent fires from occuring: “Educate yourself on how to have a safe fire if you’re going to burn wood and keep it controlled.”
