Alyssa Durkin joined The Anchor this year as a sophomore. While taking journalism her freshman year she found her passion for writing and wanted to become a part of The Anchor. For Durkin, journalism is a great way to express feelings or thoughts of anything she feels strongly about. She especially enjoys writing editorials, “it’s a way to vent in a calming way that also helps by informing people ”. She is very persuasive and has so much potential with her writing!

She is a very unique person with an inspiring outlook on life. “Life really isn’t hard, there are tough moments but if you work at it hard enough you will eventually get to where you need to be ”. Despite the struggles in her life, Durkin is not the type to give up, she is driven and dedicated to achieve her goals in life.

Along with seeing Durkin’s articles you may also see her in the school band, she has been practicing and playing the flute for many years. She is a girl with many talents. Something she feels everyone should try atleast once is yoga, “it is calming and relaxes you”. As you can see Durkin does a fun variety of activities. She is such a kind hearted person and we can not wait to watch her grow!
